While washing the upper most windows on the deck I had a bit of a "mishap". Not realizing the small bench I was using to reach the last spot had rotted from being outdoors all winter. It gave way and I slipped through the wooden slats scraping both shins on the way down. The right leg took the hit and immediately started to swell. I iced it as much as possible, but I will be heading of to the 3rd Annual Urban Sketchers Symposium with a giant blue leg...UGH!

Oh, Jennifer,
I am so sorry. Sometimes those "mishaps" are more painful than more serious injuries. I hope it doesn't spoil your sketching experience.
xoxo
Jen, I'm so sorry! ERK, I have done things like that. Can you get hold of some Arnica gel? It's really good with bruises. This spring I put a 40 lb. bag of humus in our garden cart where there was already one of similar weight--it unbalanced and landed RIGHT on my foot with the edge of the cart and 80 lbs behind it. HURT LIKE CRAZY and should have bruised that way too, but I put arnica on it immediately and nada. It really helps with bruises that have already formed too...
Hope you have a wonderful time despite the accident!
This looks positively horrifying, even as a pretty sketch - I hope you won't be too sore or incapacitated during the symposium! Otherwise you will just have to find a nice shady cafe with good service, and weary sketchers can join you when they need a break.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
I am so sorry. I think you are lucky nothing worse happened. Great sketch.
In any event, when you go out with those color-loving artists, if anyone says something you say something like, "Well, I am the only one that brought a blue leg." Then you can ask pointedly, "Where is your blue leg, hmmm?"
I second Cathy's suggestion of arnica, we have it hand and it works a treat with bruises, only careful with broken skin... I am really sorry you had a mishap, but you know, the picture of your bruised and swollen leg is really amazing! Beauty out of trauma!
OUCH! Your sketch looks so painful -- I'm glad it won't keep you from the symposium.
It looks terrible! Arnica works pretty good...(Here we have a gel and creme version. The creme works best for me, but it has this awfull green colour;-))
Really like your painting! Hope your bruises will fade soon!
Ow! So sorry that you had such a nasty accident. Hope it heals swiftly and that you get to have a good time at the symposium.
YUP!Arnica gel and Arnica pills help with the pain. Looks like Sophie is taking care of you. Good dog!!! Have a fun trip.
Aw. Sorry you had a mishap. Its okay it will heal, Don't worry you just need some tender love and care. :)
Aww, sorry to hear that. That would really cause a bruise. Hope you're okay now. But you know what, I am so jealous with your drawing, you really got a class.
