My little white dog, Sophie, absolutely loves the beach, but has never had much of an inclination to go in the ocean or any other large body of water. She will race up and down along the waters edge, roll in seaweed and any other unidentifiable beach debris, snatch and eat a sea urchin that the tide has pushed onshore and I have found her in a pile of mussel shells and seaweed chewing on the bone of a bird. Never much more than a toe getting wet, she can make the most of a walk on the beach. One afternoon, my friend Patti carried her out and set her in the water and she swam like hell back to the shore. Her little legs started going before she even hit the water—hilarious!

Thats too funny, I can just imagen what she smells like after rolling in seaweed and shells... Funny part is that my dear Charlie (a whole 65 Lbs of fluff, only likes sand and clear water for even sticking his feet in. And he loves to eat frogs and fish that he finds, ugh!!!
Great drawing, I just love how you play with the colours and the lines.
I am so in love with little Sophie! She seems like such a character and your sketches capture that mischievous quality in her. I can almost smell the shore after reading your description, wet dog and all!
SO adorable and funny! I always enjoy art that has a humorous edge (and my dog hates the water, too, so I understand). (o;
Ah Sophie is adorable. You certainly have captured her. Teddy (my little white bichon) fell into our pond and swam around in circles before figuring out how to get out! He was pretty proud of himself.
Delightful sketch, as always!
You did such a nice piece with that sweet puppy!
Love the sketches'
Great sketch!! My dogs never believed they couldn't catch the sea gulls and herons out in the water....every trip to the beach they would stalk up slowly, then tear through the water for the birds....and never even looked embarrassed when they were standing in all that empty water with no birds nearby...
I love how their legs 'swim' even out of the water. Beautiful sketch!
It's an adorable sketch, but I can't help feeling sorry for poor wet Sophie. ;-)
This is great! My dog was the same, only after that first day, he decided it wasn't so bad after all. Then I couldn't keep him out! Sophie looks adorable!
She sounds like she is just hilarious, Jennifer. I love when you describe her, and you do the best job of painting her. She's adorable. I could totally picture this scenario.
Lovely work
Lovely work and an adorable Sophie
Great painting of her. Poor thing, she just isn't a water dog!
I love Sophie and your sketches of her. I so admire your loose style of painting - it's just filled with joy!
Love it! What a funny story as well. Your painting is beautiful!!
