EDM challenge: draw an apple

I love to paint with oils, but it is expensive and I hate to waste any of it. So last night , I grabbed this apple and did a twenty minute oil sketch. I was trying not to get too caught up in the rules that sing in my head about painting and just let the brush wander around the canvas. There is still paint on the palette so I think there may be another oil sketch before the day is done.

Judging by your comment left on EDM I thought you were unhappy with your oil sketch but I must have misunderstood as I see no reason for disappointment here. Carry on, wontcha please.

Beautiful, I love it. I like how you don´t get caught up with details in your oil sketches, I wish I could paint like that...

You know what "they" say: The only wasted paint is what's left in the tube ...

A lovely little sketch! Hope you do indeed post another one soon!

Sometimes I think it's Mercury in retrograde, or hormones, or a full moon that makes us be so cruel to ourselves about our art. If you love doing it, DO IT. There are other pieces that have been "better" but this one may have taught you a lot. I like e-j's comment! And even if you spend a couple hundred dollars on paint and supplies... I bet it occupies more time and gives more satisfaction than an equal amount of money spent on movies, sports events or other "entertainment." :-)
