Valentines Day

The Aftermath—I finally succumbed to the call of the dark chocolate. I ate three and when my back was turned so did Sophie. She managed to get up on the coffee table, unwrap and eat several out of the candy dish before I caught her. She is a good dog that does bad things!

24 years of "The Valentine Phantom"The earliest known occurrence of this phenomena was 1976 in Portland, Maine. Every year since, Portland awakens to red hearts taped to all the windows throughout the city on Valentine's Day morning. This Sunday when Sophie and I took our morning walk, all the local shops were once again plastered with red hearts.

Ahhhh how wonderful that someone wants to spread love and good cheer via hearts ! Of course the chocolate kiss still reins #1 in my book. (Sophie and I would get along)

Jennifer, your painting is lovely, but I was under the understanding that chocolate was toxic for dogs. Keep an eye on Sophie, or check with your vet, please? You don't want to lose that sweetie!

I was once accused of eating an entire bowl of chocolate clusters, until we discovered it was our tiny miniature schnauzer that ate everyone one of them. She also ate a large bag of M&M's, and once the middle of a chocolate cake. She lived to be an elderly dog before she was taken from us in an accident. She was a good girl . . . but such a Bad Dog.

LOL at the wreckage of Hershey Kisses wrappers. Frame it! And I love the Portland Hearts - the whole concept of a secret heart-dropper is wonderful and uplifting.

be very careful with chocolate around dogs. Often they can eat it with no problems, years ago I knew a dog whose owner gave him hershey bits for treats - but it can be toxic to their systems and even cause death. Better safe than sorry....especially with dark chocolate, it is more concentrated

Just discovered your blog, love it!
