Good intentions

I bought a bag of cranberries with the good intention of making some kind of holiday cranberry thing. Of course, that never happened so I painted them.

Scattered—140 lb rough watercolor paper

Cluster—on Yupo

Bowl—Moleksine watercolor sketchbook

Strung—140 lb cold pressed watercolor paper

  1. You sure managed to do some lovely paintings from those unused cranberries. Have a good trip and post some more of your fabulous Bali paintings.

  2. Oh, love these, Jennifer! I've done exercises like these to test out different papers etc, and I love seeing the varieties of looks that emerge. Yours are jewels. I'm glad you didn't eat them, although I love cranberries!

  3. As A Brush With Color says...jewels..
I too love to see how different papers respond. I'm new at watercolor papers and I learn a lot by watching what people can do with them.

  5. I like the first painting best Jennifer - so light an fresh.
Cranberries are great just reduced down a little with lots of sugar, then used as a topping for cereal etc. But beware the 'wind' factor LOL!

  7. I love all the different ways you addressed the same subject. I think the yupo one is especially wonderful.

  8. These are so beautiful - and you will be able to keep them. Much better than eating the berries!

  9. I see I'm going to have to visit your site more often! You've sneaked in three postings since I was here last. I love the cranberry studies, especially the yupo one. Love the puppy sitting post, both paintings and narrative, too!
