I am a little afraid of martinis and that's why I don't drink them. A beautifully chilled glass filled to the brim with vodka. What so scary about that? I have friend who orders "dirty martinis" with three olives. I have had sip of this concoction and have subsequently asked if I could just have a glass of olive juice in that beautifully chilled glass. At that request, the wait staff will usually just walk away shaking their head. I end up with my usual glass of wine. This is a commissioned painting for a friend of a friend in Northeast Harbor, Maine. He obviously does not share my fear of the martini.
I noticed the rim was a little "wonky", a word I learned in this EDM group, so I fixed that. The beauty of oils.
that is a gorgous dangerous painting. love your color choice and wonky is a favorite word of mine too!
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful! I'm not a big martini person either--have a friend who loves them, though. I do love martini glasses, though--and it's such a great painting image--you captured it gloriously!
ReplyDeleteIf anything deserves a "wonky" edge, I would think it might be a martini glass! (You could always name it A.M. as in "After Martini." I like your post- vet journal/painting entry, too. There's some extra control the artist gets when s/he can editorialize with verbal content!!
ReplyDeleteYou always have such great stuff to show. Love the vibrant colors!
ReplyDeleteGreat atmosphere in this, it's a beautiful painting. I'm with you though, I'd much prefer a glass of wine.
ReplyDeleteLove your painting. I'm so glad that your fear is of martini's not oil paints!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! Love the colors and great balance!
ReplyDeleteI like the rich, dark, saturated colors. I also like the graphic quality of the work. Nice simple, strong, bold composition. Great piece.
ReplyDeleteLovely - and the danger has been made palpable through the colors and mood. Great interpretation of the challenge!
ReplyDeleteOh how I would love to "stop by your studio" and see these in person. I love the drama in this piece, Fabulous! I myself like a cosmo occasionally or an espresso martini - the girly stuff - mostly for the sophisticated glass I have to admit! I had a blueberry martini in Bar Harbor to die for!
ReplyDeleteNicely done...love your commentary! :)
ReplyDeleteNice strong design and color! I don't challenge myself with glass. I have a doggy love too! Thanks for the comment on a hundred horses. Continued success.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to have to steal your idea for a dangerous EDM challenge... great job (are those pastels or paints? nice use of white)
