my brother

We had a good old fashioned family reunion a few weeks ago here in Maine. It was wonderful to have the whole family together, again. This is my brother, James, the youngest of us three kids.  I decided that tonight's quick sketch before bed would be a watercolor portrait—MY FIRST.  James has a great look with that hat and moustache.

My gosh! This was your quick before bed thing?!!! I'd have had to work my courage up for days to tackle a portrait....and would not have done nearly as well as you did!!Excellent!!

Terrific portrait Jennifer! Love the way you handled the shadow cast by his hat.

Oh, wow! what a beautiful brother - I mean, portrait! Both are great, really... I can't believe you did that as a "quick sketch before bed"!

Thank you all for your kind comments on the portrait of my brother. It was a challenge as I sat on the bed with my small travel palette, waterbrush and a photo of him taken a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure if it was my drawing or my brother that caught your eye, but thanks again. Also, he is single...
