the last peony

A beautiful warm sunny day here in Maine. It was nice to get out of the studio and away from painting dogs to sketch the last peony in my neighbor Louise's garden.

This is lovely, loose and free. Very beautiful!

Gee I was thinking of how lovely loos and free this painting is and I see Leslie already said that so I'll add that the colors are so right too, I love the fullness and I think I can almost smell the flower from here in Washington state!

Love the color!

What a pretty flower. I love the loose style, something I just cannot do whether in painting, folk art or flower arranging. It's something I hope you are enjoying. The colors are very pretty too.

All of your peonies are so wonderful! The colors are fabulous - and the loose style is perfect for these blooms.

Love the rich colors you got... I don't have peonies here, but really want to paint one in all its delicacy. Must search for decent photo reference!
