Travel comes from a deep urge to see the world

"Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind" (Seneca)

I will be leaving for Bali in January and not returning to the USA until mid July—6 months, my longest time away. Sophie will be staying with my parents near San Francisco sharing the love with a Cockapoo named Freddie Brown. She will be well cared for "out there having fun in that warm California sun". However, we have to get there first...

This is Sophie in her new carrier and as you can see she really doesn't care for it. This is the airline regulation under-the-seat carrier for a pet up to 22 lbs—really? It barely seems big enough for her and she only weighs 13 lbs. They say to put the pet in the carrier so they get used to it, but I know she will never get used to this tiny carrier so why torment her. Everyday, I do toss a few treats in the carrier and she has to go in to get them. A good time and tasty, but she is suspect...

h! Poor Sophie and poor you! I'm sure you feel "guilty."
I hope you have a good flight. Both of you.

Poor pup, she looks so down... But its a great painting. I hope she will be happy after the carrier adventure is over and she can bask in the Cal sun. Have great trip!

My kitty, Myne, travels with me often and does not like her carrier either.
But she adjusts so much better to things she doesn't like than I do. and I find that once she has arrived at her new destination she shakes off her carrier experience and moves on to new adventures quickly. I hope that Sophie will do the same. And she will be so excited when you return and you can trade stories with her.
Don't spend a moment feeling guilty. You have made wonderful plans for her. The devil is only in the details of getting her there. She can do this and so can you. Enjoy

Awwwww--so sweet! I, for one, will enjoy your six months in Bali--I always look forward to your time there. Incidentally, my boyfriend's daughter may be going to Bali, and she was wondering what things she "should do" when she does--I told her I knew just the person to ask about Bali! Any hints on "must do" things??

Love your new header pops of color and this charming painting of Sophie here. Hope she fares well on the trip!

Yes, poor Sophie, but once she's in Cali, she'll love the weather. Have fun on your trip. Can't wait to see what sketches you bring back with you. :)
