Busted

We live in downtown Portland on the top floor of a building with nine condos. Our neighbor across the hall has written to the condo association citing Sophie as being a "vicious menace". When he lectured me on the street in front of the building about the condo rules and vicious dogs, all 13 lbs of Sophie was standing on her hind legs smiling at him and trying to get him to notice her. He didn't, so now she barks at him...a little.

She just got a haircut the other day. I dropped off a cute white shaggy dog and I picked up a dog that looks like a she is in her underwear. I think she may be taking her bad hair days out on our neighbor...a little.

Of course, if she goes, I go!

Yeah, right. She looks so "vicious"!
I hope your neighbor settles down and it all works out okay. Adorable drawings of such a little terror :-)

Sounds like someone's afraid of dogs! ANY dogs...

Adorable sketches, anyway!

Are there neighbors there who love Sophie who can go to bat for you with the landlord? Or if no neighbors, how about friends? Or maybe you could invite the landlord in to meet Sophie to see for himself what a sweetie she is.
Your drawings of her are adorable! nancy

Oh no. I'm chagrined on Sophie's behalf.
I love the "poster"--perhaps you could hang it in the lobby; though on second thought, best not to provoke cranks.
Itchy and I were chased off the beach once, though we were far from the area restricted for migratory birds to nest in, because the environmental police (only in NJ!) though he might disturb the birds.
All he's interested in, believe me, is sniffing dune grass!
Lovely paintings as always!!

I can't imagine she looking vicious at all. I believe it's just jealous neighbors creating troubles for others (some neighbors really have nothing else better to do). But come on! She's a dog, it's her job to protect her owner and her territory.. what do these people expect? She meows?

Oh by the way, awesome sketch! :)

There are people out there that just aren't dog people. They will look for anything to find fault with. I would guess that this person is very rigid and doesn't have a very large circle around him. Too bad to take that out on a sweet, friendly pup.

How could anyone condemn such a cutie?! Our condo board can usually calm the waters when someone goes overboard on an issue. Good Luck!

Jen, I know that dog was trouble from the first time I met her. At least she could live up to her reputation and leave a little pile of pooh on his door step. Keep that brush moving.....N

My mom went thru the same thing, except she had a cat that was indoor only. She had to get a lawyer just so he could tell them that there was an addendum that let one side of the street have small pets. She's still having trouble with the neighbors who once were her friends. Hope it works out for you and the neighbor minds his own business.

The "wanted" poster had me laughing. I have a cat that weighs more than her! Some people are just determined to find problems and be unhappy. So sorry you have to deal with that.
